Go Greener is our climate strategy which describes our ambition to reduce Egmont’s environmental impact and contribute to a better planet for future generations.

At Egmont, we aim to reduce our climate footprint from our own operational areas. We have a goal to use power from renewable energy sources and have already taken important steps toward this. We have invested in solar parks, which will cover 90% of the energy consumption from our Danish companies and more than half from our Swedish and Norwegian companies. In addition, we are working on gradually replacing our company cars with hybrid and electric vehicles.

We are also working with sustainable solutions when it comes to our value chains and suppliers, where the largest part of our CO2 emissions occur. We are actively working with selected categories where either we have a significant climate footprint, or we believe we can have a substantial impact. This pertains to printed products, covermounts and toys, packaging, business travel and freight transport. We know that we can do even more here, and we have therefore performed value chain analyses across our many business areas to understand where it makes the most sense to take the next important steps toward a more sustainable Egmont.

Egmont commits to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)

In April 2024, we have joined the globally recognised Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and thereby committed to setting near-term GHG emission reduction targets in line with climate science and the Paris Agreement ambition to keep global temperature increase below 1.5 degrees Celsius.

“Committing to the Science Based Targets initiative is the next step in our Go Greener journey and means that we are taking a broader responsibility at Egmont level for the impact of our businesses on the climate. It will require that we over the next couple of years plan for GHG emission reductions in all our key value chains.”

Cinemas are reducing their power consumption

Nordisk Film works continuously and determined to reduce its power consumption. The cinemas account for a large part of Nordisk Film’s, and therefore also Egmont’s, total power consumption, so great effort is therefore being made to reduce it.

Outnorth would rather repair and recycle than throw anything out

Every day, Egmont’s e-commerce businesses send out thousands of items to customers. Occasionally, items are returned because they are not the right size or style, are wrong or perhaps have a minor defect. But Outnorth makes sure that all products that are returned are either resold or used in other ways.

Renewable energy for Egmont’s operations

In recent years, Egmont has invested in solar parks, first in Denmark and now also in Sweden. The two energy agreements cover almost all of Egmont’s Danish electricity consumption and half of our electricity consumption in Sweden and Norway.
