Denmark's largest media group, Egmont, is returning to Folkemødet and inviting attendees to a day of personal conversations and sharp debates with a string of actors, authors, politicians, journalists, experts, and cultural figures on Friday, June 13th. This year, Egmont will be at Folkemødet in a new central location at Havnegade 9 (booth G28) in the heart of Allinge, featuring two stages – Baghaven and Terassen – with no less than 15 program items.

The world is constantly changing, and we face important questions about society, culture, and media. Egmont is taking the pulse of Danish film and literature, discussing the role of news media, and investigating the significance of cultural heritage for us. We delve into how children and young people in difficult life situations navigate life's choices, what screen culture means for our society, and how we ensure a strong education for the future. Along the way, we will cover the big picture and the smaller details.

Egmont's Folkemøde program has been created in close collaboration with a number of Egmont's businesses and brands, such as Nordisk Film, Lindhardt og Ringhof, ALT for damerne, Euroman, Gastro, Nordisk Games, TV 2 Norway, and Egmont's Grant Administration, which is responsible for Egmont's charitable support aimed at children and young people in difficult life situations. Egmont is an enterprise foundation where the profits go to developing the media businesses and to helping children and young people.

"We are very happy to be back at Folkemødet, where we have a new, central venue that allows us to have even more debates and program items at the intersection of media, culture, and politics. Egmont is broad, and both our many media businesses and foundation support for children and young people are of great importance to many Danes. At Folkemødet, we can show a small selection of everything we support, and above all, give Folkemødet participants the opportunity to meet a wide range of actors, authors, politicians, journalists, experts, and cultural figures, all of whom have something to say," says Egmont's Communications Director, Amanda Justesen.

  • The day begins at 09:00 with a morning sing-along in the Backyard with politicians Rosa Lund, Enhedslisten, and Mikkel Bjørn, Dansk Folkeparti, accompanied by members of Zentropa's Skod Jazz band.

  • At 09:45 in the Backyard, Egmont will focus on young people living with chronic illnesses. In "Sara og monopolet: When illness fills young life," Sara Bro is visited by a monopoly consisting of actor Esben Dalgaard, politician Rosa Lund, and illustrator Sofie Riise Nors, who will address some of the dilemmas young people experience when living with a chronic or serious illness.

  • At 10:00, Egmont's second stage, Terassen, opens with the debate "Good Screen – the gaming industry as leverage for Denmark," where Keld Reinicke moderates a debate with, among others, YouTuber Lasse Vestergaard, Christina B. Vestergaard, editor-in-chief of the magazine Vores Børn (Our Children), Niels Wetterberg from Games Denmark, and Diana Ringe Krogh from Lego about children's screen culture and Denmark's future as a cultural producer.

  • At 10:45 in the Backyard, Euroman's editor-in-chief Kristoffer Dahy Ernst meets TV 2's correspondent Rasmus Tantholdt for a personal conversation. For more than 20 years, Tantholdt has covered wars, conflicts, and disasters – how do you find your feet in a world that is faltering?

  • At 11:00 on the Terrace, Praxis, Alinea, and Forstå present "Well-being under the Microscope." Analyses show that young people in primary and secondary education are doing well mentally, but that there is a need to improve their academic well-being. Led by journalist Petra Nagel, experts and the young people themselves discuss what can help increase academic well-being.

  • At 11:30 in the Backyard, Euroman magazine meets power in the form of Minister of Culture Jakob Engel-Schmidt. What is it like to be in the center of power, and what does it mean to be a cultural person without a cultural policy background?

  • At 12:00 in the Backyard, Petra Nagel and author Maren Uthaug ask: "What should we use men for?" – is the future brighter without men, and is equality even possible?

  • At 13:00 in the Backyard, Minister of Culture Jakob Engel-Schmidt debates with actors Ghita Nørby and Kristoffer Eriknauer the role culture plays in our Danish cultural heritage.

  • At 13:45, you can meet the news directors of the TV stations in the Backyard: Sandy French from DR (Danish Broadcasting Corporation), Ulla Pors Nielsen from TV 2, and Karianne Solbrække from Norwegian TV 2, which is owned by Egmont. Journalist and author Niels Krause-Kjær moderates the debate on how public service stations ensure their credibility, quality, and reach in the fast-paced news stream.

  • At 14:30, ALT for damerne's weekly podcast Skål Søster! (Cheers Sister!) takes over the Backyard, where editor-in-chief Rikke Dal Støttrup is visited by actress Paprika Steen and nurse and author Carolyne Kaddu Rasmussen. It will be a conversation about generational and cultural encounters seen through women's eyes.

  • Around the same time, at 14:45, there is a debate on the Terrace about children and young people's reading crisis. What does the joy of reading mean for democracy and for young people's participation and influence? We ask, among others, the Director of the National Museum, Rane Villerslev, and cultural commentator Anne Sophia Hermansen about this.

  • At 15:30, Nordisk Film and Lindhardt og Ringhof invite you to an exciting conversation in the Backyard about "The Mobile Task Force (Rejseholdet) – when fiction meets reality." Director Christoffer Boe and actor Nicolaj Kopernikus from the upcoming major film The Mobile Task Force – the first murder talk about the Mobile Task Force and the borderland between fact and fiction together with the Mobile Task Force's former leader Bent Isager-Nielsen and journalist and crime writer Lone Theils.

  • On the Terrace at 15:45, Gastro magazine's editor-in-chief Kristoffer Dahy Ernst focuses on the Bornholm gastronomic miracle together with Nicolai Nørregaard, co-owner of Kadeau, and Martin Kongstad, who, among other things, runs the popular podcast Bearnaise is the King of Animals.

  • "How can Danish film reach all Danes?" asks Nordisk Film in the People's Meeting's large film debate at 16:15 in the Backyard. Meet, among others, Zentropa producer Louise Vesth, the Film Institute's director Tine Fischer, Venstre's (Liberal Party) political spokesperson Jan E. Jørgensen, Asger Flygare Bech-Thomsen from Nordisk Film Cinemas, and director Mathias Broe for a debate on how we get more big and broad films with artistic quality.

  • At 17:00 in the Backyard, Egmont concludes its People's Meeting program with "The Troubled World Around Us," where Lindhardt og Ringhof authors Leif Davidsen and Bo Lidegaard are in conversation with journalist Peter Ernstved Rasmussen. They delve into the current geopolitical situation and discuss how conflicts, great power rivalry, and political tensions shape our time.
