Børn der leger og lærer

All children should be able to read and do maths

Children and young people with learning difficulties should be equipped to complete an education. We work to help children and young people reduce or overcome difficulties with reading and math.

Children and young people who have difficulty reading, writing and doing math may have difficulty passing the primary school leaving exam. As a result, they have a lower chance of being admitted to and completing a youth education.

The learning difficulties can also affect their well-being and often affect those who are already struggling. That may be because of challenges at home, cognitive or psychological challenges or because they do not get enough help from the adults.

We support organisations and initiatives that work to ensure that:

  • Children and young people with learning difficulties are identified, preferably as early as possible.

  • Children and young people are given the right support so that they are able to reduce or overcome their reading and math difficulties.

  • Joy and motivation to read and do math are maintained and strengthened among children and young people with learning difficulties.
