TV 2 Norway buys C More Norway

The Egmont-owned TV 2 Norway takes over the Norwegian activities of C More Entertainment from Bonnier.

Egmont’s TV 2 Norway buys the Norwegian C More, a number of pay tv channels with premium sport and film, for instance the national football league. According to CEO of TV 2 Norway, Olav T. Sandnes, the acquisition is very positive for both TV 2 and the Norwegian consumers who through a wide set of distributor agreements and TV 2 Sumo will have access to even more content – popular films, series and premium sport, including all the matches in Tippeligaen.

The acquisition is to be approved by the Norwegian competition authority.

Norwegian TV 2 is like Danish TV2 a public service media provider and the largest commercial media company in Norway measured by daily time consumption. TV 2 Norway has the largest viewer’s share in the 20-49 age segment and great success in news, sports and entertainment on their eight channels.

Chairman of the board of TV 2 and CFO of Egmont, Hans J. Carstensen, says:
”TV 2 has a very strong position and anchoring as the largest media company and public service media provider in Norway. Now we get even stronger. TV 2 wants to be competitive exactly by being great on the content that Norwegians are looking for.”
