Sweden’s largest educational publisher acquired by Egmont
The educational publisher Studentlitteratur in Lund will become part of the Danish publishing house Lindhardt og Ringhof, owned by Egmont, from this summer.
”We are incredibly pleased that Sweden's leading educational publisher will be joining our publishing house. Studentlitteratur has an impressive history and outstanding track record, with 10,000 authors affiliated and 6,000 quality titles in its catalogue,” says Cliff Hansen, Publishing Director of Lindhardt og Ringhof Education:
”Supporting children and young people in achieving the best possible opportunities to shape their future through education is a fundamental part of Egmont's purpose. We look forward to working with the staff at Studentlitteratur and to building on the strong expertise and experience they bring with them. With the acquisition of Studentlitteratur, Egmont becomes the leading educational publisher in the Nordic region, alongside Norway's Cappelen Damm Education and Denmark's Lindhardt og Ringhof Education. This gives us the opportunity to strengthen cross-border collaboration.”
”We are delighted to be joining the Egmont Group. Together with the other educational publishers within Lindhardt og Ringhof and Cappelen Damm, we will form a strong Nordic player. We share the same vision: to develop learning and knowledge that contributes positively to society. Our companies complement and strengthen one another, and together we will be even better placed to meet the needs of pupils, teachers, students and professionals in the future,” says Stefan Persson, Managing Director of Studentlitteratur.
Studentlitteratur was established in 1963 in Lund. It currently employs 150 people, has a turnover of SEK 400 million, and is Sweden's largest educational publisher.
The acquisition of Studentlitteratur will have a positive impact on Lindhardt og Ringhof's turnover from the second half of 2026. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.
