One of the country's largest publishers, Lindhardt og Ringhof Uddannelse, is taking over the Bonnier-owned digital education publisher Clio. This means that the many Danish primary schools that use learning materials from either Clio or Alinea will have access to a single universe with significantly more content than in the past.

Clio is now a part of Alinea's portfolio:

"We constantly work to offer the sharpest and broadest portfolio of quality teaching aids, which gives the teacher freedom in their choice of materials and methods," says Rikke Bay, publishing director of Alinea: "Therefore, it makes perfect sense to be able to merge Alinea and Clio because we have shared values and different strengths. The plan is to deliver a unified digital platform that incorporates the best of both Alinea and Clio."

Pooling development efforts

The acquisition of Clio is part of Lindhardt og Ringhof Education's strategy to always develop the very best offerings for education – from primary school to higher education.

"Clio has done a fantastic job and has been a trendsetter in the digitalisation of primary education with technically innovative solutions," says Cliff Hansen, CEO of Lindhardt og Ringhof Uddannelse: "Our businesses complement each other in many areas. Now it's our job to grow the two companies together, so that with even more resources behind us, we can continue to develop world-class digital learning tools and solutions."

Clio's chairman, Jan Lund, Head of Strategy and Corporate Development of Bonnier Group, is confident that the acquisition provides the best conditions for further development:

"Clio has done a fantastic job and is today a leading player at the forefront of technological developments in digital learning materials for primary schools," says Jan Lund. "We are delighted that Lindhardt og Ringhof Uddannelse is taking over the business. We are confident they have the best conditions to further develop the company's digital learning materials alongside Lindhardt og Ringhof Uddannelse's existing operations."

With the acquisition of Clio, Lindhardt og Ringhof Uddannelse has also acquired Clio in Sweden and thereby gained a significant position on the Swedish market. In Sweden, Clio will be continued and, with its strong content in combination with the Danish developed digital platform, will continue its efforts to strengthen the digitalisation of the Swedish primary school.
