Egmont Takes the Stage at Folkemødet
Mette Frederiksen, Viktor Axelsen, Åsne Seierstad, Rufus Gifford, Niels Krause-Kjær, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, Paprika Steen, Bo Lidegaard, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen, Nicolaj Kopernikus, Maren Uthaug, Sara Bro, Lone Theils, Alex Høgh Andersen and Bjarne Corydon are among the participants when Egmont hosts interviews and debates on two stages in Allinge on Friday, 12 June.
Denmark's largest media group, Egmont, is ready for another Folkemødet and invites audiences to a day of personal conversations and sharp debates featuring a stellar line-up of politicians, actors, authors, journalists, experts and cultural figures on Friday, 12 June.
Egmont will once again be found at its central location at Havnegade 9 (stand G28) in the heart of Allinge, where two stages – Baghaven and Terrassen – will host a total of 22 programme items. Selected talks and debates can also be followed live on Egmont's channels throughout the day.
The world continues to change at pace, and we face important questions about society, culture and the media. Egmont takes the pulse of Danish film and literature, discusses the role of news journalism and explores the significance of storytelling in our lives. We delve into how children and young people in difficult circumstances navigate society, and how we can secure strong education for the future. Along the way, we cover both the big picture and the personal – from Greenland's role in the great-power game to the future of public service broadcasting in the Nordic region.
There will also be an opportunity to meet, amongst others, Mette Frederiksen, who is now embarking on her third term as Prime Minister.
"Once again this year, we have brought together a number of prominent figures from culture, the media and public life, all of whom have something important to say. The world is changing rapidly, and that is precisely what Folkemødet was created to discuss. Egmont is present throughout Danes' everyday lives – from films and books to news and magazines – and at Folkemødet we can bring all those threads together and give attendees a day filled with insight, debate and, not least, powerful storytelling. To make Folkemødet more accessible, we are streaming selected conversations and debates so that it is possible to follow along from home for those who are unable to make the trip to Allinge," says Amanda Justesen, Director of Communications at Egmont.
Egmont's Folkemødet programme has been developed in close collaboration with a number of Egmont's businesses and brands, including Nordisk Film, Lindhardt og Ringhof, ALT for damerne, Euroman, Norwegian TV 2, Zentropa, RUM, Eurowoman, Story House Egmont and Egmont Grants, which oversees Egmont's charitable grants targeted at children and young people in difficult circumstances. Egmont is a commercial foundation whose profits go towards developing its media businesses and supporting children and young people.
