The popular Turkish novelist Elif Safak was in Sofia to present her newest book Honour and to participate in the annual media awards ceremony M-tel Media Masters 2012. Nearly 500 people attended the presentation of her novel in the National Archaeological Museum in Sofia and reporters lined up for interviews afterwards.

Shafak gave interviews to major Bulgarian media journalists and attracted the attention of basketball and movie star Dennis Rodman, who was also a guest of her hotel. He was curious as to why Shafak was stealing all the media attention.

Following the interviews, the author of The Forty Rules of Love attended a cocktail lunch in her honour. There she met Egmont Bulgaria's employees and gave autographs. The Turkish ambassador also attended the event.

In the afternoon Shafak visited the town's vintage tram, rented by Egmont Bulgaria and branded with posters of the book. The tram traveled on the main pedestrian boulevard in the city as a special "bookstore" for the day as her readers could buy her books directly from the tram.
