TV 2 sells Mosart Medialab to Vizrt

Two companies originating in the TV 2 environment in Bergen join forces as Vizrt AS acquires all stocks in Mosart Medialab AS. Both companies are spin-offs from TV 2's technology environment.

Mosart was originally established in 2007 based on technology developed internally by TV 2 for the presentation of news and sports channels.

The company, who counts BBC and other international players among their customers, offers a software service which renders several complicated television production processes automatic and more efficient. 

“We are very happy about having reached an agreement with Vizrt. We are confident that they will be a strong and competent owner who ensures further growth for Mosart,” says Kjetil Nilsen, director of strategy and business development in TV 2 Gruppen AS.

Among other services, Vizrt offers real-time 3D graphics tied to interactive and virtual solutions for animations, maps, weather reports and sports analyses for the television business. The company’s products are used by several of the world’s largest television companies, including CNN, BBC, and Al Jazeera. 

“This purchase is in line with the strategy to secure Vizrt’s leading position in the television technology business. By uniting Mosart’s uniqueness and competencies with our own we can continue to expand our share of a growing segment within television production. Additionally, we expect to exploit synergy effects from the take-over in terms of innovation and further growth,” says CEO of Vizrt AS, Martin Burkhalter.

The news follow an acquirement process which began on 13 November 2013 and the final takeover will take place on 11 March 2014.
