Egmont creates new strong publishing unit

Egmont is unifying its two successful businesses, Egmont Magazines and Egmont Kids Media, to create a single, strong international publishing house with great development power.

The new Egmont Publishing will have an annual turnover of MEUR 690 and 2,400 employees and representation in more than 30 countries. Egmont Publishing will be one of four divisions in Egmont  alongside TV 2 Group, Egmont Nordisk Film and Egmont Books.

“Egmont Magazines is the most profitable magazine publisher in the Nordic countries. Egmont Kids Media is the leading European publisher for children and young people. They are both characterized by strong brands, deep consumer knowledge and high quality in products and services. Uniting the two businesses into Egmont Publishing creates many advantages and a solid development platform in a media landscape with fast changing consumer behaviors driven by mobile screens and social media,” says Egmont CEO Steffen Kragh.

Through many strong brands and titles Egmont Publishing will deliver inspiration, knowledge and entertainment on many different platforms – from magazines and weeklies to kids’ comics, books and game apps.

Torsten Bjerre Rasmussen will be President of Egmont Publishing. He is member of Egmont Group Management and comes from a position as President of Egmont Magazines.

The combined development power will strengthen our growing business on numerous platforms. Egmont Publishing will see new revenue streams in cross sales and cross promotion. Finally, the unified business will harvest scale advantages and synergies,” says Torsten Bjerre Rasmussen.

Former President of Egmont Kids Media Frank Knau, has chosen to focus on charity and board work and will continue to work part time for Egmont.
