Egmont USA Author, Walter Dean Myers, honored by NYC Mayor

Walter Dean Myers, The National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, honored by New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg.

Last Thursday New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg, announced the winners of the N.Y.C. Literary Honors.

The N.Y.C. Literary Honors is a new set of prizes to be given to writers whose work and lives have been informed by New York City, as a way of highlighting its place as home to the publishing industry and an inspiration to authors. The honorees, were honored in an evening ceremony at Gracie Mansion.

The winners include Paul Auster for fiction, Robert Caro for nonfiction, Roz Chast for humor, Marie Ponsot for poetry, Robert Silvers for contributions to literary life, and Egmont USA's own Walter Dean Myers for children's literature.

The award is expected to be given annually.
