Since the launch of Sony’s PlayStation, Egmont has been the official distributor of PlayStation in the Nordic and Baltic countries. In recent years, Egmont has invested approximately one billion DKK in Nordic computer gaming companies.

Since 2017 Egmont has invested approximately one billion DKK in Nordic computing gaming companies. Egmont is the sole owner of the Swedish company Avalanche Studios and has minority positions in five other companies: Starstable Entertainment AB (Sweden), Raw Fury (Sweden), RETO MOTO (Denmark), Flashbulb Games (Denmark), and Multiverse (Denmark).

Avalanche Studios is behind the award winning “Just Cause” series (published by Square Enix), is the developer of “Mad Max” (published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment), and is currently working on “Rage 2” (published by Bethesda Softworks), which is set to be release in 2019. Avalanche Studios also created the self-released, free-to-play game “theHunter Classic,” which has more than 7 million registered players in 190 countries. theHunter series was expanded in 2017 and now includes the premium game “theHunter: Call of the Wild,” which premiered on PC before becoming available on other gaming consoles. Avalanche Studios has offices in Stockholm, New York City, and Malmö.

Egmont’s investment in computer gaming companies takes place under the direction of Nordisk Film Games, which consists of experienced game developers, innovators, business developers, and investors, with the purpose of financing and actively supporting both the creation and the long-term development of the Nordic region’s most successful global gaming IPs.

eSport
In collaboration with the football club F.C. København, Egmont, through Nordisk Film, has created the eSports organization “North,” which currently has a CS:GO-team and a FIFA-team coming up.
