Espen Asheim becomes new CEO of Egmont Publishing Norway

Previously, he has been group managing director of VIA Travel Group ASA, CEO of Elektroskandia AS and CEO of Telenor CTV/Canal Digital Norge.

According to Torsten Bjerre Rasmussen, CEO of Egmont Publishing, Asheim is the natural choice in a strong field of applicants.

"Egmont Publishing is a large, competent and vital business. We have prioritized to find a strong leader with broad experience, both within development and change. It is also important that the new manager’s personal values correspond to values of Egmont. If this could be combined with experience from the media industry, it would be a perfect match. Therefore I’m happy we succeeded in recruiting Espen Asheim as the new CEO of Egmont Publishing Norway," says Bjerre Rasmussen.

"Egmont Publishing is the leading player in its field in Norway and I look forward to get started very much. I have already had the opportunity to meet a very competent management team who manages strong, very well known, brands. Together we must set a course to continue to provide great content tailored to target groups, regardless of platform," says Espen Asheim.

"The media market changes fast each passing day. We have to develop our existing magazines and weeklies in pace with our target groups. At the same time we must work innovatively and launch new digital concepts. As I see it, no other company is better equipped for this than Egmont," says Asheim.

Espen Asheim will also join TV 2’s Board of Directors, replacing Olav Sandnes, who is the new CEO in TV 2, starting on January 5th 2015.

Espen Asheim is  an economist with an MBA from Texas A&M University/ Mays Business School, is married and has three children.

Espen Asheim takes office on January 1st 2015.
