CHARTER nominated for the Nordic Council Film prize and part of the EFA Feature Film Selection

24.08.2020

CHARTER has been honoured with a nomination for the Nordic Council Film prize among 5 films and is one of 32 films in the European Film Awards Feature Film Selection.

CHARTER by director Amanda Kernell is about Stockholm-based Alice, who hasn’t seen her children in two months, following a difficult divorce. They live in Northern Sweden with her ex-husband, who has barred her from seeing them. In one last try to reconnect with her kids she picks them up from their father and brings them on an illegal trip to the Canary Islands.

Nominated for the Nordic Council Film prize

Producer Lars G. Lindström about the nomination:
I am very proud and happy that the jury for the Nordic Council Film Prize has paid attention to Charter despite the world situation that has arisen, and the difficulties of seeing the film in cinemas around the premiere this spring. The nomination is proof that we have managed to make a film that stands out and a stamp of quality, that helps guide the audience.

The rationale from the Nordic Council:
"Through exquisite personal direction, the detailed story deepens and evolves into an uplifting drama without any definite answers."

Since 2002, the Nordic Council Film Prize has been awarded to a full-length feature film that has roots in Nordic culture and displays high standards of artistic quality.
