Supermassive Games expands upon a popular horror universe with its latest game release, Little Nightmares III.
"When developing a well-known game universe like Little Nightmares with a passionate and dedicated fanbase, it's a huge privilege that simultaneously brings high expectations and great responsibility," says Wayne Garland, Game Director at Supermassive Games.
He continues, "Throughout the development phase, we were very conscious of creating the most authentic and impactful Little Nightmares experience possible. This meant that as a team, we had to learn how best to capture a 'Little Nightmares-esque' look, sound, and feel, so the game would have the unique blend of charming horror and suspense that characterizes the universe."
The game had already garnered significant acclaim at the Gamescom Awards in 2024, where it won awards for best visuals and best audio.

"In addition to preserving the core, we have of course also worked on putting a Supermassive stamp on the game. We wanted to strengthen Little Nightmares' unique DNA without radically altering it. Our biggest challenge was adapting Supermassive's storytelling approach to the Little Nightmares universe, where the narrative unfolds without dialogue. Therefore, we focused on creating strong and emotional experiences through the environments, visual details, and non-verbal interaction between the characters. In this way, we could maintain the series' raw vulnerability and special way of telling stories," says Wayne Garland.
In Little Nightmares III's gloomy world, players will confront childhood nightmares alongside the main characters, Low and Alone, as they endeavour to escape The Spiral, a fictional realm brimming with deceptive illusions. For the first time in the franchise's history, players can now also team up with friends online using the new co-op feature.
The game is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch, and is published by Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe. Supermassive Games, which developed the game, is also behind other major gaming experiences such as Until Dawn, The Quarry, and the game series The Dark Pictures Anthology. Supermassive Games is owned by Nordisk Games, which is part of Egmont.
