Awards for best educational material
Educational publishers Praxis in Denmark and Cappelen Damm in Norway received gold for best educational material at the 2025 Frankfurt Book Fair.
The prestigious Best Educational Learning Materials Award (BELMA) is presented annually as part of the Frankfurt Book Fair, and in competition among 23 nations, Egmont publishers received several awards in 2025.
Our Norwegian publisher, Cappelen Damm, received gold for "Matematikk 1" (Mathematics 1). This is the first time a Norwegian mathematics educational material has won gold. The jury emphasizes that "the material engages students through lively stories, varied task types, and beautiful illustrations that connect mathematics to the students' everyday lives, while also promoting creativity and discovery."
Editor Charlotte Hestenes Undrum and authors Hanne Hafnor Dahl and May-Else Nohr revised "Matematikk 1" in 2024 to adapt the books even better for six-year-olds. It is this new edition that has now been awarded gold by the BELMA committee.

The Danish educational publisher Praxis won gold for its flagship product "Det til dansk – grundbog" (This for Danish – Textbook).
"Receiving an award among contributions from publishers in 23 different countries is a huge pat on the back and a confirmation of Praxis's position and relevance in the European educational landscape. The BELMA award is a manifestation of our editorial strengths and authors' talents. 'Det til dansk – grundbog' is not just a textbook; it is a vision for the didactics of the Danish subject, and with this honor, we truly underscore its potential and relevance - not only in Denmark, but also as inspiration in Europe," says Morten Blichfeldt Andersen, Publishing Director at Praxis.
Senior Editor Gitte Skov Andersen is the driving force behind the new series, and for her, it is overwhelming that a new series for the Danish subject has been so well received by Danish teachers in the country's high schools.
"That our new textbook wins gold at this year's BELMA awards is a fantastic culmination. However, the most important recognition must still be given to the entire author team behind it, who have shown an extraordinary and great commitment to developing, defining, and writing the future materials for Danish."
In addition to the winning textbook, the titles "Det til dansk – litteraturhistorier 800 til i dag’" (This for Danish – Literary Histories 800 to today’) and "KLIMA-DRØMMEKRAFT" (CLIMATE-DREAMPOWER) were shortlisted, along with a book for social and health education, "Perspektiv – Sundhedsfremme, forebyggelse og rehabilitering" (Perspective – Health Promotion, Prevention, and Rehabilitation).
