Support for single-parent families
The Egmont Foundation supports women and children at crisis centres
Elisabeth Egmont Petersen was Egmont Harald Petersen’s widow, and co-founder of the Egmont Foundation. By awarding grants in the name of Elisabeth Egmont Petersen, the Egmont Foundation thus honours one of its founders.
The Elisabeth Egmont-Petersen grants are given to young mothers, who need to re-establish themselves after a stay in a women’s crisis centre. It can be used for education, leisure activities and psychological treatment, or just as a general support.
In addition, the Egmont Foundation distributes about two million Danish Kroner every year via normal social support channels to single parent families. For instance, means to buy food and other basic items for a new baby. The aid can also be given as a special contribution at Christmas or holidays.
