Integration via music
There is a continuous requirement to break down the language and cultural barriers between young Danes and youngsters with a different ethnic background.
There is a continuous requirement to break down the language- and cultural barriers between Danish youngsters and those with a different ethnic background. Childhood and adolescence is a natural starting point. This phase offers the optimal opportunity to create a common platform for cultural and social coexistence.
The project offers a coherent and lasting introduction and education in music, from the early school years up to graduation.
Using competent, specialised musical techniques, the children will be given the tools to develop, not only their musical talents, but also their linguistic and social capabilities.
The end objective is, to give young persons an enhanced personal, social and linguistic proficiency. This enables them to become integrated participants in the Danish society, and enjoy cultural communities on an equal footing with others.
The project will affect about 600 youngsters, all associated with Søndermarkskolen in Horsens, Denmark.
