Petzi cuts the first sod
03 march, 2010On the 15th of April Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen opens, and when that happens there will be a brand new playground for the youngest visitors – the new Rasmus Klump Verden, or Petzi’s World in English. Today the bear cub with the polka dotted overalls grabbed his spade and opened the constructions of his new home.
Even though Tivoli is closed for the winter, there is no peace and quiet in the old garden. Craftsmen are busy laying the foundation stones for the 1300 square meters, which is the frames of the future attraction: Petzi’s World.
And despite the snow and a quite uninspiring cloudy weather at the construction field, it is possible to imagine how this will turn into a colorful and amusing playground. The drawings are done, and today the beloved bear cub cut the first sod to the building work of the world he will be living in from the beginning of the summer season. And it will unlikely be a boring world.
Quirky details and a whale restaurant
A pancake house placed in such a spectacular spot as in the mouth of a whale, dancing water fountains and a nine meter tall lighthouse is just some of the attractions in the world’s first Petzi World. The thoughts about the designhas been to create a world in the spirit of Petzi – inspired by the old stories and cartoons.
We have been inspired by the famous Danish stories about Petzi, Old Salt, Pingo and the ship Mary. The world of Petzi fits well into the Tivoli environment, and with its own universe it will become sort of a garden in the Garden for several generations. At the same time do the colors, the dots, the characters and the quirky details in the world of Petzi match us in Tivoli perfectly,” says chief of design and innovation in Tivoli Gardens, Mikkel Sonne, who also tells that Petzi’s World is intended for the youngest visitors and their parents.
