Egmont enters into sponsorship agreement with Startupbootcamp

As a gold sponsor for the start-up program Startupbootcamp, Egmont gets up close with media entrepreneurs of the future.

Startupbootcamp is Europe's leading accelerator program for Startups. The program operates in Copenhagen, Berlin, Amsterdam, Dublin, Haifa and London. Earlier in September, 10 start-up teams were selected, from a field of hundreds of applicants,to join the Copenhagen-based bootcamp focusing on mobile solutions. After selection, the 10 teams work together with mentors for three months to improve the product, establish business models and work towards getting funding at the end of the program. Egmont takes an active role within the program.

"We get access to applicants from all around the world and we act as a mentor for the start-ups that are chosen at the bootcamp in Copenhagen. Our name will be recognized in the start-up environment," says Kids Media Digital Director Peter Schrøder.

Investing in the future

As a gold sponsor, Egmont provides funding to the start-up program. During the three months Egmont will work together with the start-up teams and help them develop into attractive businesses.

"We engage in Startupbootcamp to get close to new companies working with creating businesses that are relevant to Egmont. We cannot develop everything ourselves so by engaging with the start-ups we get insight into what's going on in the media world," says Peter Schrøder.

After the three months, on 28 November 2013, the 10 teams pitch their start-ups to investors at the Investor Demo Day where Egmont will be present.

"We get a huge network in the media startup business and the opportunity to enhance our position in the media landscape. We hope to get inspired in our own development, and hopefully we will make an investment or two. Only time will tell," says Vice President, Strategy and Business Development, Rikke Crosby, who has already had her first duties as a mentor for the teams chosen at the bootcamp.
