Rasmus Klump had a very warm welcome at the well-attended press launch in Tokyo yesterday.

“He was given a royal reception. It is very overwhelming.”Michael Benzon, Head of Licensing in Egmont Publishing, is on the phone from Japan. He just finished the successful launch of Rasmus Klump at the Royal Café in Tokyo. And he is happy.

A Danish Design Icon

About 200 journalists attended the event along with the Deputy Head of Mission, Jesper Thomsen, from the Danish Embassy in Tokyo:
”I am delighted to be part of the launch of a Danish design icon in Japan. For me personally it is a particular pleasure because Rasmus Klump has always had a very special place in my heart,” Jesper Thomsen said and continued: “I hope the Japanese will welcome Rasmus Klump and have as many happy moments with him as I have had.”

Next step for Rasmus Klump is the “Scandinavian Christmas Market” at Hankyu Umeda Department Store, which is one of the most prominent department stores in Japan. Millions of costumers will be able to buy 30-40 different Rasmus Klump products such as mobile covers, mugs, bags and key hangers.
