Cinemas offer entertainment for all members of the family and a unique way for them to spend time together. As the owner of the largest cinema chain in Denmark and Norway, Egmont is a leading player in this sector.
Every year Nordisk Film Cinemas welcomes between nine and ten million guests to its 39 cinemas, 18 of them in Denmark. All 207 theatres are equipped with the best, most advanced digital technology, and we are dedicated to keeping our existing cinemas at the cutting edge of development and to building new ones.
The newest member of the family is an ultramodern multiplex with nine screens in the Field's shopping centre on Amager, Copenhagen. The largest theatre boasts a gigantic screen, state-of-the-art sound and Northern Europe's first laser projector – a new technology that produces unparalleled image quality. In 2016 we will open a further three multiplexes in Denmark – in Aalborg, Køge and Frederikssund.
However, our cinemas do more than show films. Several can be converted into stages and concert halls, and our association with The Metropolitan Opera enables us to transmit live opera performances from New York. The cinemas regularly organise a wide variety of special events, and in Copenhagen the Imperial, Northern Europe's largest stand-alone cinema, frequently hosts gala premieres and award ceremonies.
And the film experience continues outside the cinemas. Film lovers can read about the films, see trailers and buy tickets on our digital communities kino.dk and filmweb.no, where they can also share their film experiences – reviewing and discussing them with other enthusiasts.
