Nordisk Film in Strong Finnish Partnership

Finland’s biggest film production company, MRP Matila Röhr Productions, and Nordisk Film, have signed an agreement, making Nordisk Film the owner of 20 percent of MRP’s capital stock.

Finland’s biggest film production company, MRP Matila Röhr Productions, and Nordisk Film, have signed an agreement, making Nordisk Film the owner of 20 percent of MRP’s capital stock.

Since 2002 MRP and Nordisk Film have had a close co-operation as Nordisk Film has been responsible for the distribution of all MRP feature films as well as international sales. Nordisk Film buying 20 percent of MRP is a natural next step. The founder and CEO of MRP, Marko Röhr, remains the majority shareholder in the company, owning 56 % of the company after the sale. Ilkka Matila continues as the third owner, with an ownership of 24 %.

“MRP is the strongest and most successful film production company in Finland, which makes it natural for us to take this step and join forces. Local films are getting more and more important, making local foot hold crucial. Nordisk Film owns film production companies in the other Nordic countries. The partnership with MRP is the optimum way to be present in Finland”, says Michael Juncker, General Manager of Film Distribution in Nordisk Film.
