Nordisk Film – in film business since 1906

On 6 November 2006, Ole Olsen founded Nordisk Film on a marchland plot in Valby on the outskirts of Copenhagen. Today, the world’s oldest active film production company celebrates its centenary with an award ceremony attended by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II.

Nordisk Film has been part of Danish and international culture for 100 years. On the threshold of a new century, Nordisk Film is a modern media company with branches in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland.

With 100 years of moviemaking and a firm stakehold on contemporary entertainment platforms under its belt, Nordisk Film is one of Denmark’s most successful brands - a company with a grand history and a strong culture. At the same time, Nordisk Film looks ahead and stays on top of the technological development.

Nordisk Film has celebrated the centenary throughout 2006. Under the banner “We bring stories to life”, the polar bear will be roaring with all its might, stepping with giant paws into a new chapter of an amazing story.

Today, the centenary celebrations culminate in a festive event and award show in Valby where it all started 100 years ago.
