The Ove Sprogøe Award of DKK 30,000 is given to a Danish actor or actress for an unusually great performance on stage or in a movie. On Thursday, December 21, actor Niels Ellegaard was presented with the award in the Palads Cinema in Copenhagen by Ove Sprogøe’s son, Henning Sprogøe.
The Ove Sprogøe Award is instituted by actor Morten Grunwald and Nordisk Film with a donation of the fees from the writers of an Ove Sprogøe biography, and with the revenue from the memorial screenings of Sprogøe’s movies following the beloved actor’s passing away in September 2004. The sum total of DKK 150,000 is split into five portions of DKK 30,000 which are presented to award winners over the next five years.
