"Ghosts of Cité Soleil" to Toronto

The documentary "Ghosts of Cité Soleil", which is produced by Nordisk Film, has been selected for Toronto International Film Festival.

The festival takes place from September 7-16, and is the most important film festival in North America. It can very well be the first step on to the North American market for a movie such as “Ghosts of Cité Soleil.” Tine Klint from Nordisk Film International Sales emphasizes that the festival is special, amongst other thing because there is no official movie market:

“It is a festival for the audience, and the people who come to see the movies are true movie lovers. It can make a big difference for a movie that the buyers see the movie with an enthusiastic audience, because they get an instant reaction,” explains Tine. For the same reason, the festival has grown bigger and bigger in the past couple of years and lots of buyers attend.

Nordic Winner Bids
“Ghosts of Cité Soleil” actually has its world-wide opening at the festival in Toronto. Tine Klint has great expectations for the movie’s sales potential, and she is also looking forward to seeing how the movie “Reprise” will do. It is a Norwegian feature film by Joakim Trier, who recently won the Best Director Award for the movie in the main competition at Karlovy Vary. Nordisk Film distributes “Reprise” in the Nordic countries.

“Ghosts of Cité Soleil” is directed by Asger Leth. The movie is produced by Mikael Rieks, Tomas Radoor and Seth Kanegis for Nordisk Film. The movie participates in the festival’s documentary section “Real to Reel.”
