For the past century, cinema films have been showed in celluloid. However, the first films are now being replaced by harddisks, so the cinemas have taken a serious step into the digital age.

Nordisk Film is the first cinema operator in Denmark to install digital devices for showing films – we have done this in Imperial and Palads, Copenhagen, as well as in BioCity, Århus. This makes a total of three cinemas in Denmark with a total of 1,744 seats, that show films in the new digital picture and sound format.

“It’s important that we offer our guests the best film experiences, and being market leader we must be at the front line of the technological development”, says General Manager at Nordisk Film Biografer, John Tønnes. “We have followed recent developments closely, and the quality of the digital cinema equipment is now better than the traditional 35 mm. film format”.

The first digital film in Imperial will be “I, Robot”, starring Will Smith, which premieres on August 20.  The animation block buster “Shrek 2” will be available in the digital format from September 3 in both Copenhagen and Århus.
