”Karen Blixen – Out of this world” released on DVD
Marcus Mandal and Anna von Lowzow’s documentary about Karen Blixen, which is produced by Nordisk Film, was made TV programme of the week when it was broadcast on DR 1 in October.
Since then it has been awarded with prizes all over the world. On February 28 “Karen Blixen – Out of this world” launches on DVD with an extensive extra material, which adds new nuances to Karen Blixens’ life.
”When we edited the film, we had a fantastic material with fantastic people and stories, we simply had too much of a good thing”, one of the directors of the documentary, Marcus Mandal, comments. “When we had to leave some of the material out of the film, it was a comfort that we would be able to use it as extra material on the DVD”.
He is particularly pleased that the DVD can follow up on the story about Karen Blixen’s house boy, Tumbo, who dreamt of going to Denmark for 74 years, ever since Blixen left Kenya in 1931. Tumbo was invited to the gala on “Karen Blixen – Out of this world” in Copenhagen, and his long anticipated visit is portrayed in the extra material of the DVD.
15 fantastic stories about Karen Blixen
Apart from the story about Tumbo, the extra material includes 15 short sequences, interviews and shootings, which together form an even more nuanced photo of Karen Blixen.
