Historic Munch publication by Damm Norway

For the first time ever, the complete works of famous Norwegian painter Edvard Munch (the one with “The Scream”) are being published in book form. It is Egmont’s Norwegian publisher Damm, who has won the rights to publish the prestigious collection.

The four-volume work is set to be published in 2008 and it’ll be the largest collection ever published about a Scandinavian artist.

1700 paintings are being reproduced with comments on subjects, origin, technical details and ownership. The books will initially be published in English and Norwegian, and later other language versions, such as German and Japanese, will follow.

The publication is created in collaboration with the Munch-museum in Oslo, the Danish gallery Jens Faurschou and the Norwegian art-dealer Kaare Berntsen.
