Aschehoug Wins 3 Cookbook Oscars

The finals in the tenth “Gourmand World Cookbook Award” was held this weekend in Sweden. More than 320 participants from 29 countries competed for the award equivalent to an Oscar – only for cookbooks. Aschehoug carried away no less than three out of twelve prizes given to the Scandinavian countries.

Every year the “Gourmand World Cookbook” organisation receives about 5,000 books for the competition. There are 34 different categories in “Best in the world” cookbooks and 14 categories for wine books.

A good book is characterized by the author’s personality. But it’s also the style of the book that makes a difference and reveals a winner.

Aschehoug won with these books:

Best in the World
“Picnic”, by Arild Sandgren
The “Best Book in the World” for entertaining this year.

“Kaffe”, by Rasmus Kjær & Jens Henrik Thomsen with photos by Jes Busmann
“The Best Cookbook Photograhy in the World” this year.

Honorable mentions:
“Rejer & Hellefisk” with introduction by Prince Henrik
A stunning book, one of the two “Best Fish Cookbooks” this year.
